artists on show

SOPHIE WILSON

The exhibition will introduce my first collaboration with the British multi-disciplinary artist Sophie Wilson, aka 1690store. I have been keen to show Sophie’s work since I started the gallery, and am delighted that her first series for Among the Pines is of nine, joggled and slipped, terracotta cat butter dishes. A perfect fit for us, as we both love our cats to sit on the table as we munch away on buttered toast, chatting away merrily to them and other family members.

MARY NORDEN

The exhibition will include Mary Norden’s recent series Summer Memories, a new body of work that reflects warm summer days idling over the countryside, and late evenings spent reminiscing with family and friends. Each composition of fabrics captures decades, if not centuries of history, deftly arranged by Mary to tell a new story.

nadia tuercke

Inspired by her vast collection of palms, cacti and succulents, British artist Nadia Tuercke paints beautifully coloured and textured still life that exude the freshness and atmosphere of houseplants. These unassuming still-life are painted in a marvellous palette of organic colour, and add an extra something to any home.

EDMUND SUMNER

A large framed photograph by acclaimed architectural photography Edmund Sumner will also be on show. Edmund is a highly regarded London based architectural photographer who has been collaborating with leading architects, publishers, editors and curators globally since 1998. His work features in many international publications including Arch Digest, Architectural Review, Domus, and Wallpaper.

This image taken in 2016, is of Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh Cinema, found in the heart of the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. It won the Architectural Photograph of the Year, India 2017 award and has been exhibited worldwide. It is an iconic image that encapsulates the magic of Corbusier’s progressive designs with a nod to the sumptuous colours of India, which Corbusier used in an elegant and assured way.

William Balthazar Rose

William Balthazar Rose is an acclaimed British artist who is perhaps best known for his Cooks Series. He says of the cooks “The tall white hats are architectural, turning the human figure into something stone-like and eternal. The chequered trousers are playful and decorative, and the knives symbolic and threatening, full of innuendo and taboo.” Acclaimed chef Michel Roux Jr is a friend and collector of his work, as well as inspiring many of these paintings.

A handful of Rose’s latest paintings will be on show, introducing new intriguing characters that seem to be giving the cooks something to talk about…..

maria balda

Argentinian artist Maria Balda hand builds and turns clay tableware in the heart of Ibiza. She harnesses the different textures and natural pigments of her raw materials, to create pure organic forms. The cut work in her small ice-cream bowls and espresso cups, and the shape of her mugs and matching tea / coffee pots, are a nod to brutalist design. Her vases curve and flow fitting comfortably into the hands. Balda’s ceramics are objects of beauty, reflecting the soul and authenticity of their maker.

sophie harding

Sophie Harding’s still life work will also feature in the exhibition. Bright, happy pictures full of scrumptious ingredients. Harding’s compositions are brimming with life and colour enlivening any home.
